CFBC Commencement to Include Traditional Academic Procession on February 25
The Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) is poised to celebrate its 36th Commencement Ceremony, a momentous occasion marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work for the graduating Class of 2024. Scheduled for Tuesday, 25th February 2025, at 4:30 p.m., the ceremony will take place at the historically significant Pro Cathedral of St. George with St. Barnabas, formerly known as St. George’s Anglican Church. The event will be graced by the presence of Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG, JP, Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis, who will serve as the patron of the ceremony. The theme for this year’s commencement, “The CFBC: Cultivating Excellence for a Sustainable Future,” encapsulates the institution’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to contribute meaningfully to society and shape a prosperous future. Attendees are requested to be seated by 4:00 p.m. to ensure a timely and dignified start to the proceedings.
The heart of the commencement ceremony lies in the conferral of certificates upon the 281 graduates representing the diverse academic disciplines offered by the CFBC. This milestone signifies the successful completion of their respective programs and marks their transition from students to alumni of the Federation’s sole indigenous tertiary institution. The graduates, along with their families and the CFBC community, eagerly anticipate this moment of recognition and celebration, a testament to their perseverance and academic achievements. The graduates represent five divisions within the College: Technical and Vocational Education and Management Studies (TVEMS) with 134 graduates; Teacher Education with 34; Health Sciences with 14; Adult and Continuing Education with 5; and Arts, Sciences and General Studies with 94.
Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, a traditional Academic Procession is planned, featuring the President, Vice President, faculty members, and the graduating class. The procession will commence at 4:00 p.m. from Independence Square, a symbolic starting point representing the nation’s history and aspirations. The procession route will then wind its way along Central Street, turn onto Church Street, and culminate at the Pro Cathedral of St. George with St. Barnabas, creating a visual spectacle for the community and a memorable entrance for the graduates.
A representative selected from the Class of 2024 will further enrich the ceremony. This year, the honor goes to a TVET scholar from the Division of Technical and Vocational Education and Management Studies (TVEMS), whose identity will be revealed shortly. This individual will embody the spirit and achievements of the graduating class, adding a personal touch to the proceedings.
The keynote address, a pivotal element of any commencement ceremony, will be delivered by Architect Ms. Kerissa Roberts, a distinguished alumna of the CFBC’s TVEMS division. Ms. Roberts’ journey, from her days as a CFBC student to her successful career in architecture, serves as an inspiring example for the graduating class. Her address promises to offer valuable insights, encouragement, and a glimpse into the possibilities that lie ahead for the newly minted graduates as they embark on their professional journeys.
The CFBC Commencement Ceremony is more than just a graduation; it is a celebration of achievement, a symbol of hope, and a testament to the transformative power of education. It represents the culmination of years of hard work and dedication for the graduates, while also signifying the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. This event brings together the entire CFBC community, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, government officials, dignitaries, and families, to honor the accomplishments of the Class of 2024 and to inspire them to strive for excellence in their future endeavors.
The theme, “The CFBC: Cultivating Excellence for a Sustainable Future,” underscores the institution’s commitment to not only academic excellence but also to fostering responsible global citizens. The CFBC recognizes the important role education plays in shaping a sustainable future, and this commencement ceremony serves as a reminder of the graduates’ potential to contribute to a better world. As they step out into the world, equipped with the knowledge and skills they have gained at CFBC, they are empowered to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
