The Nevis Island Administration (NIA), through its Ministry of Human Resources, has announced a valuable scholarship opportunity in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, offering Nevisians a chance to pursue affordable online higher education. This collaboration aims to empower individuals with advanced qualifications and contribute to the overall development of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The prestigious Edinburgh Napier University holds the esteemed AACSB accreditation, placing it among the top 5% of business schools globally, assuring students of a high-quality education.
This scholarship program caters to a diverse range of academic aspirations and career stages. Recent graduates holding associate degrees from the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) and the Nevis Sixth Form College can pursue top-up bachelor’s degrees in a variety of fields. These include BA Business Management (with various specializations), BA Business Enterprise, BSc Computing, BSc Nursing Studies, and more. The program also extends to undergraduate students seeking master’s level qualifications, offering MBA courses with 12 specializations such as MSc Business Management, MSc Human Resources, and MSc Data Science.
Acknowledging the importance of lifelong learning and professional development, the scholarship program also welcomes applications from both public and private sector employees with significant work experience, typically ranging from five to ten years. These individuals can also apply for the top-up bachelor’s or master’s programs, enhancing their skills and knowledge within their respective fields. This comprehensive approach ensures that the scholarship program benefits individuals at different career junctures, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the Nevisian workforce.
The application process involves a dual submission. Prospective applicants must first apply directly to Edinburgh Napier University through the designated online platform, www.seidegrees.com. Upon successful submission to the university, applicants must then submit a copy of their application to the NIA Ministry of Human Resources. This should be accompanied by a completed NIA Financial Assistance Application Form, which can be obtained from the Ministry of Human Resources. This dual application process ensures that applicants meet both the university’s admission requirements and the NIA’s criteria for financial assistance.
In addition to the application forms, applicants are required to submit several supporting documents to the Ministry of Human Resources. A comprehensive cover letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources is essential. This letter should articulate the applicant’s chosen course of study, their rationale for pursuing the specific field of education, how the training will influence their professional development, and how their enhanced skills will contribute to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Furthermore, the letter should specify the anticipated commencement date and expected duration of the chosen program.
The application package must also include a University Acceptance Letter, confirming the applicant’s successful admission into the chosen program at Edinburgh Napier University. Finally, applicants must provide proof of Nevisian citizenship, either through a birth certificate or a Certificate of Citizenship. This requirement underscores the program’s focus on supporting and developing the human capital within Nevis. All application materials, including the copy of the university application and the supporting documents, must be submitted to the Ministry of Human Resources by March 21st, 2025.
For further inquiries and assistance with the application process, prospective applicants are encouraged to contact designated personnel within the Ministry of Human Resources. Mrs. Shanola Murrey-Gill, Mrs. Shelly Liburd, and Ms. Corissa Griffin are available to provide guidance and support. Contact details include the Ministry’s telephone number, 469-5521 extensions 5166, 4, and 3, respectively. Alternatively, applicants can communicate via email, using the following addresses: [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].
