Felix Hodge, a distinguished son of St. Kitts and Nevis, dedicated his life to serving his community and upholding the law, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment, mentorship, and compassion. His recent passing has plunged the Federation into mourning, as they remember a man whose impact extended far beyond his role as a high-ranking police officer. Hodge’s life was a testament to his deep-seated belief in service, touching countless individuals through his professional work, community involvement, and personal acts of kindness.
Hodge’s journey in law enforcement began in the 1980s, fueled by a childhood desire to protect and serve. His dedication propelled him through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as Deputy Commissioner of Police from 1993 to 1998. Throughout his decades-long career, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community members alike, known for his integrity, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to public safety. He sought opportunities to expand his expertise through training in Barbados and England, further enhancing his ability to serve and lead. This commitment to professional development allowed him to bring valuable knowledge and skills back to St. Kitts and Nevis, benefiting the entire police force.
Beyond his official duties, Hodge dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation of law enforcement officers. He mentored over 150 police officers and personally guided more than 30 young constables, shaping the future of policing in St. Kitts and Nevis. Recognizing the importance of community involvement in crime prevention, he established a Neighbourhood Watch program in his community in 2000, further demonstrating his commitment to creating a safer environment for all. Hodge’s contributions to St. Kitts and Nevis extended far beyond law enforcement. He embraced his role as a community leader and humanitarian, informally adopting several young people, supporting their education, and providing assistance to struggling families. He also served as President of the Police Co-operative Credit Union and volunteered with the St. Kitts-Nevis Association for Persons with Disabilities, showcasing his diverse interests and dedication to serving various segments of the population.
In recognition of his exceptional service, Hodge received numerous accolades, including the Ministry of Social Development & Gender Affairs National Award in Law Enforcement in 2017 and the prestigious Independence National Award in 2023.
