JNF Hospital Bolsters Emergency Services with Newly Employed EMTs

The Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital (JNF) in Basseterre, St. Kitts, has significantly bolstered its emergency medical services with the addition of eleven newly trained personnel. This expansion represents a landmark advancement for the hospital’s institutional-based services, particularly with the inclusion of two paramedics, a first for the JNF. These new recruits successfully completed a rigorous eight-week Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Training program conducted by the hospital’s In-service Department, marking a crucial step in enhancing the hospital’s capacity to respond to emergencies effectively.

The arrival of these new team members signifies a substantial investment in bolstering the EMT department, an area that has faced challenges in the past. The infusion of fresh talent and expertise is expected to revitalize the department and enhance its ability to serve the public. The eleven individuals, comprising three orderlies, six EMTs, and two paramedics, bring a diverse range of skills and experiences, further strengthening the hospital’s emergency response capabilities. The team includes individuals trained in areas such as marine service and firefighting, adding valuable expertise to the department’s overall skill set.

The integration of these professionals into the hospital’s system is being implemented strategically. Initially, all eleven members will be stationed at JNF, allowing for smooth onboarding and integration into the existing team. As the integration process progresses, they will be deployed across the island, ensuring a more comprehensive and equitable distribution of emergency medical resources.
