National Intervention Team Training Program
The National Intervention Team embarked on a comprehensive training initiative commencing June 5, 2025, designed to cultivate both the individual and collective capabilities of its members. This program, spearheaded by Sergeant Audain, signifies a strategic investment in enhancing the team’s operational effectiveness, internal cohesion, and commitment to serving the public with unwavering integrity and exceptional performance. The inaugural session on June 5th commenced with a spiritually guided reflection led by Mrs. Toby, encouraging participants to engage in introspection and self-assessment. This reflective practice set the stage for a unique participatory exercise where officers were assigned presentation topics tailored to their individual strengths and areas for growth. These topics, encompassing Time Management, Introduction to PowerPoint, Good Leadership Skills as a Community Officer, and The Importance of Ethics in Policing, provided a platform for officers to develop their presentation and instructional skills. By creating and delivering concise lessons to their peers, the officers fostered a collaborative learning environment, nurtured leadership potential, and cultivated a culture of open communication within the team. The session culminated in a period of fellowship over a complimentary lunch, further solidifying the sense of camaraderie and mutual support amongst the team members.
The training program continued on June 11th with a session focused on officer wellness and its direct correlation to effective service delivery. Mrs. Abi Begho from Lake Health and Wellness delivered a presentation titled “Protecting Your Health to Better Serve and Protect Others,” emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining physical and emotional well-being in the demanding field of law enforcement. Officers were equipped with practical strategies for managing stress, cultivating emotional balance, and promoting physical health, empowering them to navigate the challenges inherent in their profession. The session was further enriched by a motivational talk from Superintendent David, who shared personal anecdotes from his extensive law enforcement career, underscoring the paramount values of integrity, resilience, and trust in building strong community relationships.
