Nevisian Public Invited to Observe National Day of Prayer on Friday, the 28th

The Premier’s Ministry and the Ministry of Ecclesiastical and Faith-based Affairs of the Federation cordially invite the entire populace to participate in a National Day of Prayer on Friday, February 28, 2025. This day, dedicated to fervent prayer for the nation, centers around the theme “Evangelize in 2025: Preaching, Teaching, Sharing the Gospel Through the Word of God,” emphasizing the importance of spreading the Christian message through various avenues. The initiative encourages a nationwide observance, providing multiple venues and time slots for individuals to engage in prayer and reflection.

Recognizing the significance of community prayer, church leaders across the Federation are requested to open their church doors from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., offering a sanctuary for personal prayer and contemplation. Two designated churches, the Alpha and Omega Christian Centre in Westbury and the Mannings Seventh-day Adventist Church in Butlers, will extend their hours of availability, welcoming individuals from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These extended hours cater to those seeking a longer period of prayer and spiritual reflection within a dedicated sacred space.

Beyond the confines of traditional church settings, numerous public gatherings are scheduled throughout the island, ensuring accessibility for all members of the community. Starting at 9:00 a.m., prayer gatherings will commence simultaneously at Memorial Square in Charlestown and the Oualie Water Taxi Facility. These locations offer convenient access for individuals in different parts of the island. At midday, further gatherings are planned for the Charlestown Waterfront and the BestBuy Supermarket in Gingerland, accommodating those who may be working or have other commitments in the morning. Later in the afternoon, a gathering is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the bus stop in Cotton Ground, providing an opportunity for participation after the workday.

To maximize participation and ensure inclusivity, business owners are urged to provide their employees with the flexibility to attend prayer gatherings at convenient times throughout the day. This encouragement of workplace flexibility underscores the importance of the National Day of Prayer and the government’s desire for widespread involvement. By accommodating employees’ spiritual needs, businesses can contribute to the collective prayerful atmosphere and demonstrate support for the national initiative.

Culminating the day’s events will be a comprehensive Service of Prayer at the New Testament Church of God in Bath Village, commencing at 7:00 p.m. This evening service offers a dedicated time for collective prayer, encompassing a wider range of intercessions for the nation. It provides an opportunity for individuals to join together in a shared spiritual experience, uniting in prayer for the well-being and prosperity of the Federation.

The National Day of Prayer serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of faith and prayer in the life of the nation. Through diverse venues and flexible timings, the initiative aims to reach every corner of the community, encouraging widespread participation. The day’s events, from individual prayer in churches to public gatherings and the culminating evening service, offer a multifaceted approach to prayer and spiritual reflection, inviting all citizens to unite in prayer for the Federation. The emphasis on evangelization through preaching, teaching, and sharing the Gospel underscores the government’s recognition of the transformative power of faith and its role in shaping the nation’s moral and spiritual landscape. This comprehensive approach to prayer aims to foster a sense of national unity, spiritual renewal, and collective dedication to the well-being of the Federation.
