NIA Recognizes Three Public Servants for Exemplary Service

The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) showcased its commitment to recognizing exceptional public service by honouring three individuals for their dedication and exemplary contributions to the government. During the 2025 Orientation Seminar hosted by the NIA Ministry of Human Resources, Training Officer Mrs. Shanola Murray-Gill announced Venrick Newton, Craig David, and Ezekiel Parris as the recipients of prestigious awards, highlighting their individual achievements and impact on the public sector.

Venrick Newton, a seasoned public servant with over two decades of experience, was bestowed with the Outstanding Messenger and Delivery Service Award. Beginning his career as a Fisheries Field Assistant, Mr. Newton’s dedication and unwavering commitment led him to his current role as Marine Field Assistant within the Department of Marine Resources under the Ministry of Agriculture. Mrs. Murray-Gill emphasized his exceptional customer service, friendly demeanor, and energetic approach, noting his ability to brighten any environment with his positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile. His colleagues and the public recognize him for his warm greetings, engaging conversations, and animated spirit, making him a valuable asset to the NIA.

Craig David, a twenty-year veteran of the civil service, received the Innovative Thinker Award in recognition of his substantial contributions to the field of information technology. Throughout his career, Mr. David has held various key positions, including computer analyst, systems analyst, and assistant director, culminating in his current role as IT Director for the NIA. His passion for information technology and dedication to staying abreast of the ever-evolving technological landscape ensures that the NIA remains at the cutting edge of technological advancements, streamlining government operations and enhancing service delivery.

The Ultimate Team Player Award was presented to Ezekiel Parris, acknowledging his selfless service, unwavering reliability, and dedication to collaboration. Mr. Parris began his civil service journey in 2004 as a Valuation Officer at the Inland Revenue Department and currently serves as a systems technician in the Information Technology Department. Mrs. Murray-Gill highlighted his helpful nature, warm personality, and approachable demeanor, emphasizing his willingness to go above and beyond to assist colleagues across all departments. Mr. Parris’s responsiveness and dedication to teamwork, even amidst a busy schedule, solidified his reputation as an invaluable and reliable member of the NIA team.

The NIA leadership, represented by Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, who also serves as the Minister of Human Resources, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resources, Kevin Barrett, personally presented the awards to the distinguished honorees. Each recipient received a commemorative plaque and gifts as tokens of appreciation for their exemplary service and dedication to the people of Nevis.
