NIA Undertakes Two Major Road Projects within Island-Wide Infrastructure Enhancements

The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) is currently undertaking two significant road improvement projects, one in Pinneys and the other in Brown Pasture, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the island’s road infrastructure. The Public Works Department (PWD) is executing the project, which includes widening corners in critical areas and upgrading drainage structures, particularly in front of the car park and at the Pinneys Service Station junction. These enhancements aim to alleviate past issues and create a smoother, safer traffic flow. The Brown Pasture project involves major reconstruction along Morgan Estate Road to address damage caused by previous infrastructure installations, specifically the erection of a water tank around 2015-2016. This project, currently in Phase One, includes significant structural upgrades with the installation of curbs, slipper drains, and a new 16-foot-wide, 7-inch-thick concrete road surface. The Water Department proactively laid a new water main before the roadworks commenced, ensuring the long-term functionality of the area’s water infrastructure. The NIA anticipates that once resources are available, Phase Two of the project will continue, further enhancing the road network in the area.
