Police Investigate Dual Robberies on Nevis
On the evening of August 8, 2025, the tranquil island of Nevis was shaken by two separate robbery incidents, both involving knife-wielding assailants. The first incident unfolded in the quiet residential area of Stoney Grove between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Ms. Odalis Lynch Navarro, a resident of Stoney Grove, was returning home, nearing her property located near Charlestown Secondary School. As she entered her premises, a short male individual, lurking beside an outdoor galvanized shed, emerged and confronted her, brandishing a knife. The assailant forcefully seized her gold neck chain and hoop earrings. When Ms. Navarro cried out for assistance, the perpetrator struck her in the mouth, causing an injury, and further inflicted a cut on her left hand before fleeing the scene. He escaped by running down the road towards a waiting vehicle, suggesting a degree of premeditation and possibly an accomplice. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force swiftly responded to the scene, deploying their Crime Scene Unit to process the area and collect potential evidence. Subsequent searches were conducted in an effort to apprehend the suspect and recover Ms. Navarro’s stolen jewelry, and the investigation continues.
The second robbery occurred just an hour later, between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, affecting Ms. Khalia Warner of Cotton Ground Housing Project. Ms. Warner was walking home from her place of employment at Paradise Beach, traversing the island’s main road near Colquhoun’s Estate. As she walked, a male assailant, armed with a knife, accosted her and stole her black handbag, which contained her personal belongings. Police officers promptly responded to Ms. Warner’s report and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area, but unfortunately, they were unable to recover her stolen handbag or any of its contents. Shortly after the incident, an unidentified male matching the description provided by Ms. Warner was observed walking from the Colquhoun’s Estate area toward Cotton Ground. Law enforcement officers apprehended the individual, taking him into custody for questioning and further investigation regarding his potential involvement in the robbery.
Both robberies, occurring within such a short timeframe and in close proximity, raised concerns within the Nevisian community. The use of knives in both instances underscored a level of threat and potential for violence that demanded immediate attention from law enforcement. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, committed to ensuring the safety and security of the island’s residents, launched comprehensive investigations into both cases, deploying resources to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and pursue leads.
The close temporal and geographical proximity of the two robberies raises the possibility of a connection between the two incidents. While the descriptions of the assailants are similar – both being described as short males – it remains to be determined if the same individual perpetrated both crimes or if multiple individuals were involved. The potential use of a getaway vehicle in the first robbery suggests a level of planning, while the second robbery appears more opportunistic, occurring on the main road as Ms. Warner walked home from work. Investigating officers will be scrutinizing any potential links between the two incidents, analyzing evidence and witness statements to determine if there is a common thread.
In their pursuit of justice and to bring the perpetrators to account, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has appealed to the public for assistance. They urge anyone who possesses information related to either of the robberies to come forward and share their knowledge with the authorities. The Charlestown Police Station can be contacted at (869) 469-5391, and the Cotton Ground Police Station can be reached at (869) 469-5269. Individuals can also report information to their nearest police station or utilize the Crime Stoppers hotline at 707, which offers a confidential avenue for sharing tips and information.
The investigations remain ongoing, with law enforcement diligently working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding both incidents and to bring those responsible to justice. The incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement in maintaining safety and security. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to work tirelessly to ensure the well-being of all residents and visitors to the island of Nevis.
