Premier Announces Spirit of Nevis Award
The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, has announced that this year, the Nevis-St Kitts Swim will acknowledge a swimmer or volunteer who encompasses the best of the event.
The Spirit of Nevis Award, introduced by the Premier, recognises individuals who exemplify the very heart of the event: resilience, determination and a deep commitment to community values. People across St. Kitts and Nevis are encouraged to nominate participants or volunteers who they feel are deserving of the inaugural prize.
The Nevis-St Kitts Swim, celebrating it’s 24th year, is a 2.5 mile swim that begins on Nevis’ Oualie Beach and ends at Spice Mill Restaurant in Cockleshell Bay on St. Kitts. It has become extremely popular for sports tourists and attracts people globally to the island.
Many of the island’s hotels are offering discounts and packages to those who come to attend the swim, recognising the benefit to be gained from the influx of intrepid swimmers.
The Premier, is not only aiming to recognise the sense of community that defines Nevis, but is also acknowledging the crucial role the swim plays in fostering the island’s spirit and its wider economy more generally.
Votes are open until the 26th of March and if you know of anyone who is deserving, visit the website to nominate them.
