The highlight of the day undoubtedly belonged to the nail-biting encounter between Ivor Walters Primary School (IWPS) and St. Thomas’ Primary School (STPS). IWPS, setting a target of 73 runs for 4 wickets in their allotted 12 overs, thanks largely to T’Vern Herbert’s unbeaten 31 runs, placed the pressure squarely on STPS. Josh Partab contributed significantly with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for a mere 11 runs. The chase was a thrilling one, with STPS needing a manageable 6 runs from the final three deliveries. However, the pressure proved too much, and they fell agonizingly short by a single run, losing the match despite a valiant effort from Dequanne Phillip, who also scored 31 runs. Joshua Persaud mirrored Partab’s bowling figures, taking 2 wickets for 11 runs, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough to secure victory for STPS.

The second match of the day featured a dominant performance from Charlestown Primary School (CPS) against the VOJN Combined Primary School (VOJNCPS). In response, VOJNCPS could only muster 95 runs for 2 wickets, with Bentley Steward top-scoring with a modest 25 runs. Roberts and Ghaness chipped in with a wicket apiece for CPS, but the damage was already done by their batsmen, giving CPS a comfortable 32-run victory.

The final match of the day showcased a swift and decisive victory by Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School (EPPS) over St. James’ Primary. St. James’, batting first, managed a total of 60 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 12 overs. Adrian Douglas was their highest scorer with 17 runs, while Amardar proved to be a thorn in their side, claiming 2 wickets for just 8 runs. EPPS made short work of the chase, reaching the target of 61 runs in a mere 4.1 overs, losing only one wicket in the process. Aaden Brandy and Ajani Saddler led the charge with contributions of 15 and 14 runs respectively, with Saddler remaining unbeaten. Largie managed to pick up a wicket for St. James’, conceding 19 runs, but the match was firmly in EPPS’ grasp from the outset, resulting in a comprehensive 9-wicket victory.
