Queen City Nevis Lions Club Reactivation

The Queen City Nevis Lions Club has been revitalized, marking a significant moment for community service in Nevis and the broader Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. With a renewed focus on service and a strong leadership team in place, the club is poised to make a substantial impact on the lives of people across the islands. The reactivation signifies not only a resurgence of Lionism on Nevis but also a deepened commitment to addressing local needs and upholding the core values of the international organization.

The official reactivation culminated in a formal induction ceremony held on June 14, 2025, at the Occasions Centre in Nevis. Seventeen dedicated individuals were inducted as members, signaling a vibrant new chapter for the club. The event, which included a celebratory lunch, was presided over by District Governor Lion Allan Alexander PMJF, who travelled from Antigua specifically for the occasion. His presence, alongside Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer Lion Leandra Lewis MJF and Region Chair Lion Franklin Maynard MJF, underscored the importance of this reactivation within the larger Lions Clubs International framework. The ceremony also included the installation of the new board members for the Queen City Nevis Lions Club, solidifying the leadership structure that will guide the club’s future endeavours.

The event was further enriched by the participation of members from the St. Kitts (Basseterre) Lions Club, demonstrating inter-island collaboration and support. Their presence coincided with the fourth and final Cabinet meeting for the Lionistic year, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing achievements from the previous year. This combined event provided a platform for networking, sharing best practices, and celebrating successes within the Lions community. To further support the newly inducted members and leadership, Lion Leandra Lewis, MJF, and Lion Novelette Benjamin were appointed as Guiding Lions. Their mentorship and guidance will be crucial in navigating the initial phases of the club’s reactivation and ensuring its long-term success.

Prior to the ceremony, the visiting Lions leadership demonstrated their commitment to community engagement by paying a courtesy call to Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley. This meeting served to establish a connection between the club and the local government, highlighting the club’s intention to work closely with existing leadership to address the needs of the Nevisian community. This proactive approach emphasizes the club’s dedication to civic engagement and its understanding of the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders. It signifies a commitment to not just serving the community but also integrating within its existing structures to maximize impact and effectiveness.

The reactivation of the Queen City Nevis Lions Club is not simply a symbolic gesture but a tangible commitment to action. The club’s mission centers on addressing both local and global needs through volunteerism, aligning with the broader mission of Lions Clubs International. Its focus areas include health, education, youth development, and environmental sustainability, reflecting a holistic approach to community betterment. By engaging in these diverse areas, the club aims to make a comprehensive and meaningful contribution to the well-being of the community it serves.

With its renewed energy and purpose, the Queen City Nevis Lions Club is poised to make a substantial difference in the lives of individuals and families across the Federation. By embracing the principles of Lionism and fostering a spirit of collaboration, the club aims to create positive change and contribute to a brighter future for all. Their dedication to service, coupled with strong leadership and community partnerships, positions them to effectively address local challenges and contribute to the overall betterment of Nevis and the wider Federation.
