Reach Me Corporation Concludes Inaugural “Women Behind the Lens” Photography and Videography Workshop.
On April 12, 2025, Reach Me Corporation celebrated the culmination of its inaugural “Women Behind the Lens” Photography and Videography Workshop, a four-week intensive program designed to empower young women in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Twenty participants successfully completed the program, marking a significant milestone in their creative journeys. The workshop focused on honing technical skills, fostering creative confidence, and igniting entrepreneurial aspirations within the participants, equipping them to navigate the dynamic world of visual storytelling. The success of the program served as a testament to Reach Me Corporation’s commitment to empowering women and youth in the Caribbean’s creative economy.
The program’s effectiveness was largely attributed to the exceptional guidance of two accomplished instructors: Giddel Smithen of Tilt Hat, who spearheaded the Videography workshop, and Ryan Delano of REFiiC, who led the Photography workshop. Their mentorship fostered a supportive learning environment where participants not only acquired new skills but also discovered and nurtured their unique creative voices. Throughout the program, the instructors observed and commended the participants’ remarkable eagerness to learn, innovative thinking, and rapid skill development. During the closing ceremony, both Smithen and Delano encouraged the graduates to maintain their momentum by continuing to practice, challenging their creative boundaries, and confidently entering the expanding creative industry.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Mrs. Hazel Brandy-Williams, CEO and Founder of Reach Me Corporation. In her address, she emphasized the power of collaboration and urged the graduates to leverage their collective skills by forming teams and offering their services to businesses, government agencies, religious institutions, and communities across Saint Kitts and Nevis. Brandy-Williams also announced the forthcoming launch of the Young Entrepreneurs Club, an initiative designed to connect the program participants with other creative professionals throughout the Caribbean region, further strengthening the network of emerging talent. Reach Me Corporation pledged ongoing support in facilitating these connections and fostering a vibrant creative ecosystem.
The ceremonial presentation of certificates was conducted by patrons Mr. Errol Pemberton and Ms. Judith Dasent, adding a formal and celebratory touch to the proceedings. Representing their respective classes, Ms. Shaniyah Wattley, from the Videography group, and Ms. Shauntel Jones, from the Photography group, delivered heartfelt speeches reflecting on their transformative experiences. Both highlighted the program’s impact, not only on their creative development but also on their personal growth, equipping them with the confidence and skills to embrace new opportunities. Their testimonies underscored the program’s holistic approach to empowerment.
Mrs. Palsy Wilkin, a Reach Me Corporation Board Member, concluded the event with a warm expression of gratitude, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to the program’s success. She recognized the invaluable contributions of the facilitators, patrons, and the dedicated team behind Reach Me Corporation, highlighting the collaborative spirit that underpinned the initiative. Wilkin’s remarks emphasized the importance of community support in nurturing and empowering young talent.
The “Women Behind the Lens” workshop transcended its educational framework, evolving into a movement dedicated to opening doors, building confidence, and creating opportunities for women and youth to flourish within the Caribbean’s creative economy. Reach Me Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to driving this mission forward, recognizing the transformative potential of empowering women through creative expression and entrepreneurial development. The corporation also extended heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors who shared and supported the vision of the program, enabling young women to access invaluable training, mentorship, and creative opportunities. Their support was instrumental in empowering the next generation of visual storytellers in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Finally, Reach Me Corporation issued a call to action, inviting individuals and organizations to join the movement and support their ongoing mission to empower women, unlock creative potential, and foster innovation within the Caribbean. The call emphasized the collective responsibility to inspire and support young women like Shaniyah, Shauntel, and other participants in realizing their creative dreams and achieving success in the dynamic field of visual storytelling.
