Saint Kitts and Nevis to Hold National Thanksgiving Service Ahead of Independence Day

The twin-island Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is extending a warm invitation to the public to join in a National Service of Gratitude and Gospel Concert on Sunday, September 14, 2025. This event serves as a heartfelt expression of thanks to God for His continued blessings upon the nation as it commemorates its 42nd Anniversary of Independence. The service, scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Zion Moravian Church on Victoria Road, promises an atmosphere of intimate worship and communal connection. The chosen venue aims to foster a deeper spiritual experience, allowing attendees to reflect on God’s grace and guidance throughout the nation’s journey. This gathering serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude and faith in shaping the nation’s identity.

The event is more than just a service; it’s a celebration of the nation’s resilience and progress. Pastor Clive Saunders, a member of the Independence 42 Planning Committee, emphasizes the significance of the service as a time of reflection and praise. “God has been good to us as a nation,” he notes, highlighting the importance of acknowledging and celebrating divine favour. The service will be a vibrant expression of faith, incorporating singing, clapping, shouting, and dancing – all outward manifestations of the joy and gratitude felt for the nation’s journey thus far. This communal expression of faith aims to unite the nation in a shared spirit of thankfulness.

To ensure the inclusivity of the event and accommodate a larger audience, arrangements have been made to extend the service beyond the church walls. Tents, chairs, and large-screen televisions will be set up around the church grounds, allowing those who cannot be accommodated inside the sanctuary to fully participate in the service. This thoughtful arrangement ensures that everyone can share in this important moment of national thanksgiving.

Following the service, a gospel concert will commence, approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of the formal proceedings. This concert promises a vibrant showcase of talent, featuring some of the most renowned praise and worship teams from across Saint Kitts and Nevis. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, special performances by Minister Blessed Ogbum and the Shekinah Dance Ministry will further enrich the evening. The combination of music, dance, and worship will create a truly uplifting and memorable experience for all attendees.

Pastor Saunders extends a heartfelt invitation to the entire community, urging everyone to participate in this significant event. He emphasizes the importance of bringing families together to share in this collective act of worship and celebration. “It is a time for us to worship God,” he states, underscoring the core purpose of the gathering. The event aims to foster a sense of unity and national pride, bringing people together under the banner of faith and gratitude.

The 42nd Anniversary of Independence for Saint Kitts and Nevis, celebrated under the theme “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View: Independence 42,” embodies the nation’s aspirations for continued growth and development. The National Service of Gratitude and Gospel Concert serves as a powerful launchpad for the Independence celebrations, setting a tone of reflection, appreciation, and hope for the future. By acknowledging the blessings of the past and expressing gratitude for the present, Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to a future marked by perpetual progress and a sustainable path forward. The event encapsulates the spirit of the nation, emphasizing the importance of faith, unity, and collective aspiration in building a brighter future.
