West Indies Cricket Implements Program to Expedite Player and Coach Development

Cricket West Indies (CWI) embarked on a transformative journey in early 2025, launching three interconnected high-performance programs designed to revitalize West Indies cricket. These initiatives represent a significant investment in the future of the game in the region, focusing on both player development and coaching excellence. Two of the programs concentrated on specialized player development, specifically targeting the crucial aspects of spin bowling and batting against spin. Recognizing the importance of these skills in modern cricket, CWI organized intensive high-performance camps dedicated to refining these techniques. The Batting Spin and Spin Bowling Camps brought together 30 of the region’s most promising players, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to hone their abilities under the guidance of renowned coaches Sriram Krishnamurthi, Head Coach of the Chennai Super Kings Academy, and spin bowling specialist Amar Rashid. These six-day camps provided focused training and expert feedback, accelerating the development of these young cricketers. Furthermore, the camps built upon previous development initiatives, such as the training opportunity at the Chennai Super Kings Academy in India, demonstrating CWI’s commitment to continuous player improvement.

Complementing the player development camps, CWI concurrently hosted a Coaching Symposium at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
